The aparment with a double
and a single bedroom is a comfortable haven on the
North East corner of Marrakech with a fine view of
the mountains, particularly from the roof terrace
(see the front page) and a large swimming pool. With
fully equipped kitchen, 30+ feet of sofa, TV and hi-fi
installed, the apartment is ready for occupation.
The apartment complex, Ennour Enakhil
(Light of the Palms) is just outside the main town,
close to the Hotel Tikida (non-residents welcome)
and opposite the famous Palmery. While the Medina
is in easy walking distance the air is fresher here,
set back from the smokey roads of the central city.
The apartment is on the top floor, up three flights
of stairs and it looks South with the city to the
right and the Atlas mountains in full view of the
kitchen and both bedrooms. The terrace is useful mainly
for drying but the open roof, one more flight up,
is tiled, walled and ideal for the evenings.
Friendly staff man the gates of this
new complex 24 hours a day. Several stores have opened
on the street side with the essentials readily available.
(Though you might get the delicious local bread from
"Mon Petit Four" on the main road - ask
for a "hhobs" and try the local butter.)
A pharmacist has put out his sign on the corner of
the block and the Zen cafe is open for breakfast.
The complex is clean and well maintained and the young
lemon trees in the small planted gardens are thriving.
A menagiere will have made up the
beds and prepared the apartment before your arrival.
We mean to have bottled water ready in the flat -
they say the Atlasi mineral water is the best and
on reflection i would put "Sidi Ali" first
- wine in the fridge, fresh bread and olives: enough
to settle in. You will also find a selection of books,
a chess set, Satellite TV, DVDS and CDs - during my
time in Marrakech my own tastes have been swayed towards
Gnaoua and Bach so you might want to come prepared!
During your stay a local pay-as-you-go
mobile is at your disposal (top it up at any maroc
telecom kiosk). It may be useful for taxis and reservations
etc, there are further contact numbers on the info
sheet (see contact us).
If you need any guidance or advice
during your stay call on our agent for help. Youssef
El Ronda (office in the Gueliz) will most likely offer
to take you to one of the big supermarkets on the
way in, if you don't feel like stopping then, at some
point drop into the French-Moroccan "Acima"
opposite the garage at the top of Mohammed V and petit
taxi back to the apartment.
Should the need arise, of course,
Youssef will help in any way he can beyond assisting
with managing the apartment. There is a lot do outside
as well as in the town and whether your tastes run
to golf, excursions to the desert or mountains, shooting
or 4x4 off-roading, Youssef can offer informed advice.
Every trip to Marrakech is an adventure. Enjoy your
stay.
